The UT Alumni Forum was created in August 2008 to support the University of Texas Groups on Linkedin and promote networking among Longhorn Faithful Worldwide. In the first year, the Forum has grown to include members in 32 States around the United States and 16 countries around the World. The Forum has also driven membership in the UT groups on Linkedin over 400% this year!

The UT Forum here on Ning has seen some exciting additions over the past couple weeks. A “Big D” ~ Dallas group has been created for those Exes up in North Texas and individual invites should go out soon. We have two members who have provided some great info on their blog posts, so keep an eye out for these posts as they will be “featured” on the main page periodically. The Alumni Forum continues to grow and expand, with membership now in Canada and domestically adding members in Oregon, Louisiana, Tennessee and Ohio. The Alumni Forum now covers 27 states and 12 countries. A new group was created for

As the year winds down it's time to reflect on 2008. With close to 400 members, The UT Alumni Forum here on Ning has seen tremendous growth while supporting the UT groups on Linkedin. Membership in this forum now spans the globe and blankets the United States. The UT Linkedin group continues to grow, reaching the 1,400 mark on 11/17/8, while this forum builds speed surpassing the 300 mark earlier this month.

The UT Alumni Group on Linkedin continues to grow, with 1280 members we are just 120 members shy of doubling in size since the inception of this forum in August. Our forum is also picking up speed as we approach the 300 member mark, activity continues to increase with two new discussions recently posted “Longhorn Real Estate Professionals Wanted” and “Texas Exes Specialty Wine”. The UT Alumni forum is two months old today and it has seen remarkable growth and development in this short time frame. The UT Austin Alumni group on Linkedin has added over 450 members in the past two months which far exceeded any expectations. The UT Austin Alumni Group on Linkedin surpassed 1,000 members today, which was the original goal of this forum set on August 8, 2008. After only 40 days this forum has over 200 members and contributed to 300 new members of the UT group on Linkedin.

With the Olympics over and ten former or current UT student-athletes accounting for 14 medals, including 10 gold medals, the Burnt Orange contingent represented! Consider that if these current Horns and Texas Exes were competing as a separate Country they would have placed 8th among all nations in gold medals and 18th in total medals won!! My personal favorite was Sanya Richard’s (UT ’06) anchor leg in the 1600-meter relay bringing home the gold for the USA!

Many changes have occurred over the last week on both Linkedin and Ning. Now that everything has settled down, here is an update on the networks. The UT Austin Alumni Linkedin Group is up to 847. Linkedin will allow more than 1,000 members upon request, so keep spreading the word. This forum has been online for less than a week and the response has been excellent. There have been 63 additions to the Linkedin Alumni Group and 157 new members of this forum. The original goal was to reach 1,000 members of the Linkedin UT Alumni Group by 11/20/8, one year after it was created. This goal looks like it will be reached much sooner than expected.

Yesterday saw a big jump in the members here, as a result the Linkedin group is growing as well. Our forum gained over 100 people yesterday as the word got out, today the site is 127 strong. The Linkined group grew as well, now with 738 members, just 262 members from our goal set for November 20, 2008.
